Product development is 90% noticing what no one else does.

Product development is 90% noticing what no one else does.
Like a logo that’s 3mm off—and about to cost weeks of rework.
We were reviewing a production sample. Everything looked fine at first.
But the logo embroidery had shifted—just slightly.
To most people, it wouldn’t have mattered.
But to the brand? It threw off the entire balance of the garment.
To production? It meant the spec needed updating—immediately.
To the timeline? That tiny shift would’ve cost us weeks of rework and wasted materials.
It took 30 seconds to spot.
It saved days of stress.
That’s the thing about product development.
A big part of the job is catching the small things—before they become big problems.
The best PDs I know have an eye for detail.
But more importantly, they know when a detail really matters.
What’s one small thing you caught that saved your team time, money, or stress?
